My Goals For Motherhood

 Today I am once again linking up with Becky, for 52 weeks of blogging with a purpose, today's topic, My Goals For Motherhood.  As soon as I saw this topic, I knew it was a week I wanted to participate.  So, here goes.

 You would think after 6 years of being a mother, and 3 kids later, I would have accomplished, added to, or changed my goals for motherhood.  While I have grown so much as a person, and a mother, one thing stays the same.  The person I want my kids to see when they look at me.

 {June 18th, 2009 - The morning Lilly was born}

 I want to always have that feeling that I am not doing a good enough job.  I know that sounds nuts, and while this feeling causes many sleepless nights, it is such a motivator for me.  I always want to do/be better.  I want to play more, read more, be present more.  My husband always tells me it is a sign of a good mom, not seeing all the wonderful I do, but always wanting the best for my kids, even though we both know that it doesn't exist, and will continually be something I strive for, knowing it isn't attainable.

 {January 6th, 2013 - The day Joshua was born}

I  want my kids to always feel safe and loved at home.  My husband and I were lucky enough to grow up in homes like this, and know that for a lot of kids, that just isn't the case.  With that said, I don't want to coddle my children.  I want them to always know that we are their biggest fan no.matter.what.  We will comfort them in times of sadness. Push them to be their best even if they don't want to, but 100% because we love them and just want what is best.  Let them have sleep overs whenever they want.  Try not to yell when they and 5 of their friends are up late making memories instead of sleeping.  Demand the best of their ability when it comes to school, no not perfect grades, but they better work their butts off.  I want to be sitting in the stands of every sporting event, so they know when they look up, Mom will be there, probably cheering a little too loudly!

I want to teach them.  I want them to know what the real world is like.  I want to make them work for all the nice things they have.  I want them to know that hard work will get them so far in life.  I want to teach them to be kind to people, be an example for how someone should act.  I want them to know how to take care of themselves, and not have to depend on someone else.  I want to teach them, that the most important thing is family.

I want to raise healthy, happy kids.  I want to do everything I can to set them up to have the best life possible.  Raising them to want to be active, eat healthy, pursue what makes them happy.  I want to see the smiles I see now, shine through when they are older.

 I want to love their daddy.  I want my kids to always see how much their dad and I love each other.  How we aren't just their parents or married old people, but we really are best friends, who love spending time together, and time as a family. I want them to see what a real love story looks like, not always perfect, sometimes takes a lot of work, but ALWAYS so worth it.
