Top 10 Snacks I send to Preschool

My 4 year old Matthew is in preschool 3 days a week. It is a completely peanut free school. That means snacks I send can not only contain peanuts of any kind, but they can not be foods that are processed in a facility that contains any sort of peanut item as well.  The school requires that we send the food label in everyday with the snack so they can be sure it is completely peanut free.

 I knew at the beginning of the school year that I would have to be very organized with this, so I made a designated spot to keep all of this information. I used the inside door of our "kid" cabinet.


I taped in a plastic bag to hold all of the labels of popular snacks I send, a list in case anyone instead of me had to prepare the snack letting them know all of the "rules" (this has yet to happen), and a list the school provided of suggested peanut free snacks. My son's favorite food is fruit so usually twice a week that is what I send. Fruit is easy, no labels required! Some things I send are individually wrapped, and the label is already included which is nice as well. Here are the....

** Along with his snack I ALWAYS send his water bottle.  I am not a big fan of juice for my kids, so water gets sent everyday.  Also my biggest tip is that if you want to see the things you send come home, such as the water bottle, container or anything LABEL it!

  1. My kids love those same squeezable applesauces, too! We also do fruit leathers, yogurt, cheese sticks, and all kinds of stuff :)

    1. We do a ton of yogurt (I don't send it to school too often though). Neither of my kids like cheese, I really wish they did because that is such a healthy quick snack option!

  2. I'm not a big fan of juice either. But, I do send in fruitables with my son. It's almost the only juice he ever gets. I don't like my kids to have more than one juice a day. He's getting two of the small boxes right now. I feel better that at least it's half vegetable--although it's the sweet vegetables unfortunately. Anyway! All of the preschools up here have the people send snacks in for the whole class once a month. That way you only have to send in a snack once a month. That's nice. It changes at Kindergarten, then you send in their own snack every day. Have a great Tuesday, Samantha!~

    1. Next year for Kindergarten it will be a whole new ballgame for us....lunches! My son will not eat a sandwich so it is going to be interesting!

  3. Wow! That has to be challenging to be sure to be completely nut free (including where things are produced). Good for you for providing him such healthy options.

  4. We did a peanut free thing for several years. One big thing was frozen yogurt. That way when it was time for them to eat it it was still cold if not a bit frozen. Also made a ton of homemade snacks such as cookies, bars and homemade granola bars.
    As far as lunches go my daughter does not overly care for sandwiches either but loves wraps. Also tons and tons of leftovers. :)
